Written by Mr Suricate | June 6, 2024 2:00:20 PM

The 16th edition of JFTL(Journée française des tests logiciels), the must-attend event in the field of European Software Testing and Quality, will take place on June 11 at the Beffroi de Montrouge, and we're proud to be part of it! Mr Suricate is proud to be a sponsor and presenter!

What is JFTL?

The French Software Testing Day is an opportunity to bring together specialists in the field of software testing to share evolving practices in the testing world via live tutorials.

It's a unique opportunity for test experts to differentiate themselves and showcase their added value not only through their solutions, but also through innovative approaches and strategic applications.

Members of the CFTL Board, members of the CFTL Technical Committee and community experts were responsible for selecting the presentations and putting together the program for this not-to-be-missed educational day!

The program includes 14 workshops led by various specialists in the field of software testing and quality.

Please note that these tutorials are hands-on workshops, so registration will be limited.

JFTL Tutorial Mr Suricate - can a recorder be used to automate tests?

For the Mr Suricate conference, Rodolphe Jacquemin and Xavier Blanc delve into the world of record & replay tools, a crucial but often misunderstood area of software test automation.

We will explore why, despite their promise of ease and efficiency, these tools are not yet fully operational in today's context.

1. We unveil an often overlooked reality

These tools do not record all actions performed on websites. This creates a gap between what is tested and what is actually used, raising critical questions about the reliability and completeness of automated tests.

2. We will examine the ability of these tools to replay recorded actions.

The challenge here is twofold: not only do some tools struggle to faithfully reproduce complex actions, they also come up against unforeseen obstacles, such as user interface updates and code changes, which can render tests obsolete.

3. We emphasize the importance of specific automation expertise

This raises the question of whether the use of these tools is really within everyone's reach, or whether it remains the domain of specialists.

Together, a better understanding of the future of software test automation

This presentation not only highlights current challenges, but also opens up an essential discussion on the future of software test automation.

We'll explain the solutions we've implemented to overcome current limitations and describe the prospects that are emerging!
