TOP 10 most reported bugs in the first half of 2021

Here is the list of the 10 most recurrent functional bugs on our customers' websites, selected by our experts:

mail not received1

Mail not received

The non-reception of emails is the most recurrent bug according to our specialists. Most often, this anomaly appears at the time of the purchase of an article, more precisely, when the email should warn the customer of the good reception of payment of the product. It also often happens during the creation of a customer account, when a confirmation email is sent.

Impact:

When it's an order confirmation email, the customer is worried and finds himself in the position of having to contact you by his own means, which will leave him with the memory of a bad experience. If it's an account creation validation email for example, it simply prevents them from entering the payment tunnel.

Unresponsive button2

The unresponsive button

The second most reported functional bug is the lack of reaction after clicking on a button. We have all encountered this problem: clicking on a button to add to cart or send a message and seeing that nothing happens...

Extremely painful for users, this bug is the cause of many abandonments and deteriorates the brand image of the company.

In this case, it is possible that the JavaScript code implemented in the site is blocked by various elements: firewall, antivirus, ad blocker...

Particularly in the case of e-commerce sites, this problem quickly becomes damaging since the reaction of most visitors is to spontaneously leave the site without trying to understand where the problem may come from.

Example of error 400 (voluntary error in the URL of our site)

errors 400 - 500

Errors 400 / 500

Next are the errors 400 and 500 which really impoverish the user experience as they do not allow them to continue their journey and cannot be bypassed.

The 400 errors are numerous (there are more than 35) and may reflect different problems between the server and the browser. As for the 500 errors, they are less numerous than the 400 errors (about 20) and highlight problems on the server side only.

Impact:

These technical errors are often blocking for the user. Moreover, when one comes across an error message on the site as a user, the image of the site and the trust it inspires suffer greatly.

4Problem of displaying the site

Problem of displaying the site

In fourth place, we find the display bug of the site often due to a modified script or an update of the CMS ... and this is how the design of your site is altered.

Even if a display bug is not necessarily blocking, you lose credibility and image with the users of your site. What a pity for your marketing team that does its best to promote you.

The emptying basket5

The basket is empty

The fifth bug on our list is ultra-sensitive for customers. It occurs most often at the change of page during the navigation on the site. While the customer has just spent some time on the right selection of his items, this anomaly appears by resetting the cart to zero, without any possibility to go back.

This is a highly irritating and disappointing bug for the customer who, most of the time, will leave the site in order to avoid having to search again and to find better elsewhere.

Unable to log in to customer account 6

Unable to log in to customer account

Like unresponsive buttons, the inability to log in to the customer account is a very common reason for site abandonment.

Imagine... You arrive on your login page. You enter your login and password. They are validated, but you are not recognized when you browse the site. You don't have access to your customer account and you can't do what you want.

Isn't that disappointing?

It is your customer's loyalty and your brand image that are tainted.

Product unavailable7

Product unavailable for a reason

This typical bug of e-commerce platforms is one of the most disappointing and damaging for the brand image of a company.

You have copies of this product in stock, a user of your site wants to buy one, but your site indicates that this product is unavailable ... wrongly. What a pity for everyone...

This bug is often caused by poor management of online inventory or the e-commerce platform.

Non persistence of the product price 8

Non persistence of the product price

This is a technical error indicating a public price on the site but not taking into account a promo code, a loyalty discount or a gift voucher.

The customer is then frustrated at not being able to take advantage of the discount they were expecting and, in the vast majority of cases, they leave the site to find a better alternative.

Untimely disconnection of the customer account 9

Untimely disconnection of the customer account

When the customer has logged in and spent some time browsing the site, or even filling their shopping cart, the customer account suddenly disconnects, without warning or informing the user, who sees their cart potentially emptied.

A very strong and recurrent discomfort that will not necessarily be blocking but a real ordeal for the browsing comfort of your users when you have worked so well this part of your site.

Error message during payment

10

Error message during payment

The 10th bug of our top 10 is related to the payment on e-commerce sites and occurs when the customer is at the stage of filling in his banking information. While clicking on the validation button, an error message appears, mentioning that the payment could not be completed. The order has not been placed and the payment has not been made
